So, how much is a flight to Paris? A round trip from the United States costs $868¹ on average over the past 12 months, counting every US departure airport. The month you travel moves that number more than anything else: the median round trip runs from $623¹ in January to $1,155¹ in June, 1.85² times as much for the same seat across the Atlantic.

2025 was a record year. 9.25 million³ passengers flew nonstop between the US and France, and Paris's two main airports handled almost 107 million travelers of every nationality.⁴ 2026 has been softer: in August 2026 North American traffic at the Paris airports was 5.3%⁵ lower than a year earlier. The $868¹ average covers round trips seen in fare searches over the past 12 months, cabin mix not stated; it is a guide to the going rate, not a quote. And how much is a flight to France as a whole? Over the most recent month, a round trip to any French airport averaged $895⁶. Because the two averages cover different periods, the gap between them says little; each stands on its own.⁶

Which US city is cheapest for Paris?

Among the six departure cities with a published Paris average, New York is cheapest at $706¹. So how much is a flight from New York to Paris compared with the rest? Boston averages $821¹ and Miami $856¹. Orlando is the priciest of the six at $910¹, $203² above New York.¹ New York also has far more direct flights to Paris than any other US city, as the airline section below shows.

Florida sits at the top of the range. So how much is a flight from Florida to France? A Paris round trip costs $856¹ from Miami and $910¹ from Orlando on average. And how much is a flight from Chicago to Paris?

A round trip averages $822¹, almost level with Boston. Portland, on the West Coast, lands at $869¹, close to the national average.¹

A second yardstick is the good-deal line: the price at or below which a quarter of travelers found their round trip to Paris.¹ For New York that line sits at $546¹; for Houston it is $613¹, for Chicago $627¹ and for Boston $648¹.¹ A round trip under those levels is worth booking.

New York is lowest on both measures, while Boston, mid-table on the average, has the highest good-deal line.¹ Houston appears only in this chart.

The most popular routes to Paris

So how much is a flight from LAX to Paris? Round trips from Los Angeles averaged $1,038⁶ over the past month, and San Francisco round trips $1,091⁶; these two West Coast routes are the most popular from the US to France.⁶ Los Angeles is also the second-busiest US gateway for nonstop traffic, with 1,043,408³ passengers to and from France in 2025.

Deals do appear on the East Coast. Here is how much is a flight from Atlanta to Paris at its cheapest: a $447⁶ round trip to Charles de Gaulle, the cheapest France fare in one recent five-day window. Newark to Charles de Gaulle produced a $155⁶ fare in the last two weeks.⁶ Such fares are one-off lows found in a few days of searches, not averages, so treat them as proof that sales exist rather than as a price to expect.

When to fly to Paris for the best price

Looking at average flight prices to Paris by month, the calendar splits in two. Winter is cheap: January ($623¹) and February ($632¹) have the lowest medians. Prices climb through spring to a June peak of $1,155¹, stay high in July ($1,077¹), and ease through autumn to $702¹ in November before a December jump to $962¹ for the holidays.¹ August, a favorite month for European vacations, costs $909¹.

For a family of four the season is worth real money: four tickets at the June median come to $4,620², four at the January median to $2,492², a difference of $2,128².¹

The day of the week matters less. Wednesday is the cheapest day to depart at $902¹ on average, and Saturday the priciest at $989¹, a gap of $87²; Thursday and Friday are also expensive.¹

Time of day is a similar lever. Night departures average $879¹, the cheapest slot, and afternoon flights $991¹, the dearest, $112² more; morning and evening sit in between.¹

How far ahead to book

Fares drift down as departure approaches, then turn sharply up in the last weeks. Booking 26 weeks out averaged $962¹; the low point came five weeks before departure at $833¹. In the final week the average jumps to $980¹, 15.0%² more than at five weeks.¹ Fares booked within two weeks of departure run about 8%¹ above the overall average.

Between about four and nine weeks out the averages stay close to their lowest level, so there is no single magic day, only a window.¹

Airlines, nonstop flights and flight time to Paris

Air France dominates the route. It flew 17,915⁷ of the 37,252⁷ passenger flights operated between the US and Paris in 2025, counting both directions, 2.22² times as many as Delta Air Lines (8,069⁷), with United Airlines (3,868⁷), American Airlines (2,771⁷), French bee (1,507⁷) and JetBlue (1,447⁷) behind.⁷ Air France alone flew 48.1%² of the flights, and 9⁷ airlines had scheduled nonstops to Paris.

That is about 102² flights a day in both directions, or 714² a week.⁷ Fare-search listings spread them evenly over the week: Saturday has 15%¹ and every other day 14%¹ (scheduled flight numbers listed on a fare-search site, including codeshares, not flights operated).¹ New York's JFK and Newark airports had 10,670² flights, 28.6%² of the total, and 32⁷ US airports had a scheduled flight to Paris.⁷

The six airports in the table account for 22,549² of the 37,252⁷ flights; the other 26² airports with a scheduled link share the rest.⁷

How long is the flight?

On nonstop flights, the average flight time from New York to Paris is 7 hours¹. Raleigh-Durham takes 7 hours 45 minutes¹, Charlotte 8 hours 10 minutes¹, and Las Vegas has the longest nonstop listed, at 10 hours 15 minutes¹.¹ Measured as a route average, Boston to Charles de Gaulle is quicker still, at 6 hours 45 minutes⁶, the shortest nonstop from the US to France.⁶

Delays are about as common as on any US flight. Over the last three months, 15%¹ of flights to Paris were delayed by a quarter of an hour or more, the same as the US national average. The worst months are December (23%¹) and July (21%¹); March is the most punctual at 9%¹.¹

Taxes and fees on a flight to Paris

Every ticket carries government charges that no sale removes. On the US side, a round trip to Paris pays $70.63² in federal taxes and fees. The international departure tax and the arrival tax are $23.40⁸ each in 2026.⁸ The September 11 Security Fee is $5.60⁹ per one-way trip that starts at a US airport, so it is charged once, on the way out.⁹ On arrival back in the US come a customs fee of $7.39¹⁰,¹⁰ an immigration fee of $7.00¹¹¹¹ and an agricultural inspection fee of $3.84¹².¹² Two of them rise on October 1, 2026: the customs fee to $7.61¹³,¹³ and the agricultural fee to $3.98¹² for tickets bought from that date.¹² That lifts the federal total to $70.99² from October 1. The US departure airport also charges a passenger facility charge of up to $4.50¹⁴, one US boarding on a nonstop round trip since the return starts abroad,¹⁴¹⁵ so US charges come to $75.13², or $75.49² from October 1.

France adds its solidarity tax on airline tickets, charged once, on the flight leaving France. Since March 1, 2025 a flight to the continental US falls in the long-distance tier and pays €40¹⁶ in economy, about $45.86² at the September 18, 2026 exchange rate, or €120¹⁶ (about $137.57²) with extra services such as business class.¹⁷ Together, US and French charges come to $120.99² per economy round trip, 13.9%² of the average fare, and $121.35² (14.0%²) from October 1, 2026.

The French tax depends on distance and cabin. Flights to Europe pay €7.40¹⁶ in economy, flights to intermediate destinations €15¹⁶, and long-distance flights such as those to the US €40¹⁶.¹⁶ Business jets pay far more: up to €2,100¹⁶ per passenger on a long-distance turbojet flight, 52.5² times the economy rate.

For four travelers in economy, taxes and fees alone add up to $483.96² per trip ($485.40² from October 1, 2026). That fixed part does not change with the season, so it weighs more on a cheap January ticket than on a June one.

How many people fly between the US and France

A record 9,250,567³ passengers flew on nonstop flights between US and French airports in 2025, 4.9%² more than in 2019 and 2.64² times the 3.50 million³ of 1990. The count covers both directions and all nationalities, so it measures the route, not only Americans heading to Paris.³ Growth has slowed: 2025 was up only 0.2%² on 2024.

The long climb had three breaks. Traffic slipped after 2001, from 6.36 million³ in 2000, and again in the 2009 recession, to 5.98 million³. The pandemic cut 2020 to 1.53 million³, 17.3%² of the 2019 level, before a rebound that passed 2019 in 2024.³ A straight line fitted to 1990-2025 without the pandemic years points to about 12.9 million² passengers a year by 2050; that is our calculation, not a forecast.

France's own count agrees closely. The French civil aviation authority recorded 9,193,220¹⁸ passengers between mainland France and the US in 2024, within 0.4%² of the US figure for the same year. Flights between the US and France's overseas territories in the Caribbean and the Pacific are a separate, much smaller market of 496,207¹⁸ passengers.¹⁸

On the US side, New York JFK handles the most France traffic by far, 1,833,137³ passengers in 2025, followed by Los Angeles and Atlanta (875,070³). Newark adds 783,949³, so the New York area's two big airports carried more than 2.6 million².³

Paris's airports

Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Orly handled 106,958,316⁴ passengers together in 2025, 3.4%⁴ more than in 2024 and 99.0%⁴ of the 2019 total. Charles de Gaulle, the long-haul hub where most US flights land, carried 72.03 million⁴, 2.06² times Orly's 34.93 million⁴, but it is still below 2019 while Orly is above it.⁴

North American traffic is one of the strongest segments. It made up 11.8%⁴ of all passengers at the Paris airports in 2025 and stood at 106.7%⁴ of its own 2019 level.⁴ Europe as a whole accounts for 45.1%², most of it inside the Schengen area, and Africa for 13.8%⁴.

In 2025, about one passenger in five, 20.3%⁴, was connecting between flights, and planes were 84.4%⁴ full on average. That year the Paris airports made up 28.2%² of the 378.98 million⁴ passengers at all airports run by their operator worldwide.⁴

The latest month is weaker. In August 2026, 10.08 million⁵ passengers used the Paris airports, 3.2%⁵ fewer than in August 2025 and 96.9%⁵ of August 2019. North America made up 12.9%⁵ of the month's traffic and fell 5.3%⁵, more than traffic as a whole; the operator links the weaker traffic to flight cuts tied to the conflict in the Middle East and to rising fuel prices.⁵ Planes were still 85.1%⁵ full.

How Paris compares with other French cities and destinations

Measured the same way, over the past month, a round trip to France averages $895⁶. Italy costs a little more at $937¹⁹; Germany ($891²⁰) and Greece ($869²¹) about the same; the United Kingdom ($820²²) and Spain ($747²³) less. Mexico, at $431²⁴, costs less than half.

Other French cities

Paris is not always the cheapest place to land.⁶ In a separate five-day snapshot of the cheapest round trip to each French city, Marseille came out lowest at $466⁶, followed by Nice at $511⁶, Lyon at $523⁶ and Bordeaux at $525⁶; Paris itself was $577⁶.⁶ Corsica is the expensive outlier: Calvi reached $1,203⁶ and Figari $1,177⁶, $737² more than Marseille in the case of Calvi.

Even so, Paris takes almost all of the demand: 97%⁶ of fare searches from the US to France end in Paris, against 2%⁶ for Nice and 1%⁶ for Lyon.⁶ Charles de Gaulle (CDG) handled 88.8%² of the 39,528⁷ passenger flights operated between the US and mainland France in 2025, counting both directions,⁷ and Orly (ORY), Paris's second airport, has the lowest average arrival fare in the country at $388⁶.

Grouped by region, the Mediterranean south and Lyon are cheapest to reach; Brittany and Corsica are dearest.⁶ The map shows the lowest of the city fares above in each region; four regions without a listed city stay blank.

1. The month sets the price. The June median ($1,155¹) is 1.85² times January's ($623¹); weekday and time of day move it by at most $112².
2. New York is the cheapest major gateway. It averages $706¹ and has the most nonstop flights (10,670² to and from Paris in 2025); Florida and Portland pay more.
3. Book about five weeks out, not in the last week. The five-week average ($833¹) is 15.0%² below the final week's ($980¹).
4. About $120.99² of every economy round trip is taxes and charges. France's solidarity tax (€40¹⁶) plus US federal charges and the US passenger facility charge make up 13.9%² of the average fare ($121.35² from October 1, 2026).
