How much is a flight to Las Vegas? Two numbers answer it, and they measure different things. Tickets actually sold on the top domestic routes to and from Las Vegas averaged $256.781 one way in the first quarter of 2026, both directions combined. Round trips priced in commercial fare searches from US cities averaged $3072 over the past 12 months.2 The first is a one-way average of fares paid, the second a round-trip price travelers were shown, so one is not simply double the other.
The main price lever is where you start. A one-way ticket between San Diego and Las Vegas averaged $144.951 in early 2026; between Atlanta and Las Vegas it was $409.941, 2.833 times as much. The average fare to Las Vegas in 2026
How much is a round-trip flight to Las Vegas?
Round trips to Las Vegas from US cities averaged $3072 in commercial fare searches over the past 12 months. The figure covers every US departure city; no cabin mix or sample size is published, so treat it as a benchmark rather than a quote. A round trip at or under $1942 sits in the cheapest quarter of fares seen, $1133 below the average.2 Departure city matters even here: round trips from Los Angeles averaged $1292, the lowest of the departure cities shown, and from Dallas $2382.2
- Los Angeles is lowest at $129.
- Dallas is $238, $109 more.
The official record counts tickets sold instead. On the top domestic city pairs that include Las Vegas, the passenger-weighted average one-way fare was $256.781 in the first quarter of 2026, over an average route of 1,183 miles1 (1,904 km).1 Because each one-way fare counts a round trip as two trips, doubling it gives a round-trip equivalent of about $513.563. That is our assumption, not a published figure, and it is well above the search average: the official number averages every fare type actually paid, while the search number averages prices shown for the dates travelers looked at.
Fares have climbed slowly. The yearly average one-way fare rose from $114.111 in 1996 to $217.621 in 2025, 1.913 times the 1996 level in current dollars, and 2025 stood $33.593 above 2019.1 The first quarter of 2026 came in $39.163 above the 2025 yearly average, but one quarter is not a full year and the set of top routes changes from quarter to quarter.
Projection: linear trend of 1996–2025 yearly values, 95% prediction range. Our calculation, not a forecast.
- The 2025 average was $217.62.
- 1996 started at $114.11.
- 2020 dipped to $161.70.
A straight line through those 30 years (our calculation, not a forecast) reaches about $2893 one way by 2050 in current dollars. The pandemic took the average down to $161.701 in 2020, and fares were back above the 2019 level of $184.031 by 2022.1
How much is a flight from LA to Las Vegas?
Los Angeles-Las Vegas is the busiest route, with 6,1461 passengers a day on average in the first quarter of 2026, and one of the cheapest: $157.561 one way over 2361 miles.1 Southwest held 53.3%1 of the route's passengers at an average $178.361, while Spirit, the lowest-fare airline on it, averaged $84.811.1 The yearly fare roughly doubled in current dollars, from $74.061 in 1996 to $141.011 in 2025, 1.903 times as much.1 Fare-search round trips from Los Angeles averaged $1292.2
Projection: linear trend of 1996–2025 yearly values, 95% prediction range. Our calculation, not a forecast.
- The 2025 average was $141.01.
- 1996 started at $74.06.
The same straight-line method gives about $1973 one way on this route by 2050 (our calculation, not a forecast).

Taxes and fees inside the ticket
Part of every fare is fixed by law, and the advertised price already includes it. The federal domestic ticket tax is 7.5%53 of the base fare,53 and the flight segment tax is $5.3054 per segment, one takeoff and landing, in 2026.54 The September 11th security fee is $5.6055 per one-way trip that starts at a US airport, so a domestic round trip pays it twice, $11.2055, the round-trip cap.55 Las Vegas collects a passenger facility charge of $4.5056 per boarding.56
Backing those charges out of the $3072 average round trip, and assuming the departure airport also charges $4.50, leaves a base fare of about $256.933 on a nonstop. The ticket tax on it is $19.273, so about $50.073, or 16.3%3, of the price is taxes and fees. A one-stop trip pays the segment tax and the facility charge twice in each direction: of the same $307, about $68.303, 22.2%3, is taxes and fees.

This year's traffic
2026 is running behind. From January to July the airport counted 30,203,98060 passengers, 6.9%3 fewer than the 32,430,24060 of the same months in 2025; July alone was 7.6%3 lower, while international passengers rose from 279,72660 to 296,49960.60

For comparison: what a trip from Las Vegas costs
A separate official series prices trips that start in Las Vegas: the average domestic itinerary fare (a round trip, or a one-way fare when no return was bought) for journeys beginning at the city's airport, to every destination, from a sample of tickets. It describes trips leaving Las Vegas, not the price of getting there, so it is shown here only for comparison. In the second quarter of 2026, the latest published, such trips averaged $347.6861, $62.943 more than a year earlier.61 The published 2025 yearly average is identical to the 2024 figure, $285.4661 to the cent, although the four 2025 quarters do not average to it; it appears to be a publication error, so the chart and the trend below stop at 2024.61
Projection: linear trend of 2013–2024 yearly values, 95% prediction range. Our calculation, not a forecast.
- 2024 reached $285.46.
- 2020 fell to $210.13.
A straight line through 2013-2024 (our calculation, not a forecast) points to about $2883 by 2050. Only 12 points support it, so read it loosely. The quarterly figures show the recent climb in more detail.

What these numbers mean for your trip
For a family of four, the calendar alone is worth real money: four round trips at the $3072 average come to $1,2283, four at January's $2542 median to $1,0163, a difference of $2123. About $50.073 of each nonstop ticket, $200.283 for the family, is taxes and fees that no sale removes.
Geography sets the floor. From Southern California or Phoenix, Las Vegas is a short, cheap hop;1 from Atlanta, New York or Boston, one-way fares run two to nearly three times the Los Angeles level.1 For those travelers, timing is the main lever left: a Monday departure at night, in January, booked about five weeks ahead, stacks every cheap pattern on this page.2 June and July trips cost the most and run late most often.2

Conclusions
- Your starting city sets the price first. One-way fares ran from $144.951 from San Diego to $409.941 from Atlanta in early 2026, and the short western routes cost least.
- Timing stacks. January's median round trip is $2542 against June's $3562; Monday, night flights and a five-week booking window each shave more off.
- Fares climb slowly, not steadily. The yearly one-way average went from $114.111 in 1996 to $217.621 in 2025 in current dollars, and trips starting in Las Vegas reached $347.6861 in the second quarter of 2026.
- One airline shapes the market, and another dropped out. Southwest carried 43.1%3 of 2025 domestic passengers into Las Vegas, while Spirit, third in 2025, had no passengers there by July 2026, part of a 6.9%3 fall in year-to-date traffic.
- A fixed slice is taxes. About $50.073 of a $307 nonstop round trip, 16.3%3, is federal taxes and airport charges, whatever the fare.
Methodology
- Route fares: 1996 to first quarter 2026 (latest available); 63 Las Vegas markets in the first quarter of 2026. Flights operated: 2025. Air passengers: 1970-2025, July 2026. Trips starting at Las Vegas: 2013-2024 yearly, quarters to the second quarter of 2026.
- State-airport round trips: 48 states (Nevada is the destination; Delaware publishes no average).
Definition. Round-trip fares are prices seen on commercial fare-search route pages (KAYAK) for flights from US departure cities to Las Vegas: the overall $307 and the weekday and time-of-day figures are averages, the monthly figures are medians (top 0.1% removed); the page states a 12-month window for the overall, monthly and weekday figures; cabin mix and sample size are not published. Route fares are official average one-way market fares for the top 1,000 US city-pair markets in the contiguous states (10% ticket sample), both directions combined, with metro airports combined; passengers are average passengers per day, both directions. The official one-way fare and the commercial round trip are different measures; the one-way fare doubled is our assumption only. Trips starting at Las Vegas are the official average domestic itinerary fare for journeys that begin at the city's airport, all destinations. Flights, seats, passengers and flight times are domestic flights operated into Las Vegas in 2025, classes F and L (passenger), all-cargo classes left out row by row, and only flights that carried passengers (165 empty positioning flights left out); time in the air is takeoff to landing, gate to gate is pushback to arrival at the gate. Air passengers per year are enplaned plus deplaned at the airport, all traffic.
Data sources. US DOT Consumer Airfare Report, Table 1 (1996 to first quarter 2026); US DOT Bureau of Transportation Statistics average domestic itinerary fares by origin airport (2013-2024, 2024 to second quarter 2026) and T-100 Domestic Segment (all carriers, 2025); Clark County Department of Aviation Detailed Passenger Report (December 2025) and Traffic Summary Report (July 2026); Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority Historic Tourism Statistics 1970-2025 and 2025 Visitor Profile Study; IRS Publication 510 and Revenue Procedure 2025-32; 49 CFR 1510.5; FAA PFC notice in the Federal Register; KAYAK route pages (commercial, labelled), fetched September 27, 2026.
Calculations. State and yearly fares are passenger-weighted averages of the city-pair fares: sum of fare x passengers divided by the sum of passengers. Flight times are minutes per flight (air time or ramp-to-ramp time divided by departures) per origin-airline-month row, weighted by passengers. Taxes use rates in force on September 27, 2026, backed out of the tax-inclusive $307 average: base fare = ($307 - fixed per-trip charges) / 1.075. Trend lines are ordinary least-squares straight lines over the stated fit range, extended to 2050: our calculation, not a forecast. Air passengers per year are shown as a table without a trend line, because a straight 1970-2025 line is not a plausible path for this series.
Limitations. Commercial averages change daily and use different windows, so they are not subtracted from official figures. Route fares are one-way and first-quarter fares carry winter seasonality; the set of top markets changes each quarter. Official route fares cover the contiguous states only, so Hawaii and Alaska come from commercial data. Premium-cabin fares are not shown separately. Three filing errors are left out: all July 2025 flight times of one charter airline (JSX), whose filed times that month run up to about eight times its usual times on the same routes (Reno 289 airborne minutes against 58-59, Salt Lake City 475 against 61-66); its 559 July flights still count as flights and passengers. Frontier's March 2025 air times (1,048 flights) equal its gate-to-gate times less about a minute (Los Angeles 74 airborne minutes against 45 in other months), so they are left out of the time-in-the-air averages only; their gate-to-gate times are normal and stay in. The published 2025 yearly fare for trips starting at Las Vegas ($285.46) repeats the 2024 value to the cent while the four 2025 quarters do not average to it, so 2025 is left out of that yearly chart and its trend.

About the author
Helen Askew writes the publication's aviation coverage, from airline reliability rankings to fare and fee analysis. She flew for 21 years as a commercial pilot, the last eight as a captain on wide-body long-haul routes, accumulating more than 12,000 flight hours on both major narrow-body and wide-body aircraft families. Off the flight deck, Helen served as Head of Flight Safety for a major European carrier, where she ran the airline's safety-management system, led incident investigations and represented the company in working groups with national and regional aviation regulators. She holds a master's degree in air transport management and is a fellow of a leading aeronautical professional society. Her writing draws on primary data (regulator filings, operational performance reports and airline financial disclosures) rather than press releases. She is regularly quoted by trade and consumer media on airline safety, cancellations and passenger rights.
